How can you run out of Eligibility in the D-League? The Mavs could use a 3rd center right now….?
Okay so I know the mavs waived him on August 4th of last year, but in the story I read http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/41802/20060804/mavs_waive_big_man_podkolzin/
They say Pavel Podkolzin spent time with the Fort Worth Flyers of the NBDL (which seems like the logical place for him to me) but he no longer had eligibility there. How could he not be eligible for the D league? I thought that was the whole point of the D League to give teams a place to grow young talent. Pavel was drafted 21st overall in the 2004 draft. This kid is only 21 years old and 7-5. Now the Mavs cut him and he’s over in Russia playing for the Khimky Moscow team. When and if he gets good he’ll be tearing it up for some other NBA team. What sense does this make?

they have an age limit or a pro-career year limit..
either under 21 (if you’re assigned) or if you have been an NBA player (active..not nessacerily drafted) for three years
